1¢ SINGERS GUM "BIRDIES" GUM VENDING MACHINE.
Item Details
Description
This is an extremely rare vending machine made by the Singer Products Company of Chicago, Circa 1928. A clockwork vending machine that when operated, the birds sing and the gum is dispensed. The birds are animated through the clock-work mechanism and a bellows provides the "chirping" or singing. Condition is original with signs of wear and use and the machine needs some attention to work correctly. There are less than five of these known today and this version by Singer Products represents one of the few mistakes in Bill Enes book, "Silent Salesman Too". On page 164, Bill refers to the Singers Gum machine but pictures the Purdy-Moore example pictured elsewhere in the book. This is a fantastic animated vending machine and a tough one to find. Has key. Condition: (Very Good). Dimensions: 17" x 7 - 1/4" x 7 - 1/4".
