A rare authentic vintage antique cabinet card photo original albumen sepia Photographic image on buff period card stock. The photo shows a little girl in a gingham dress and printed cotton cloth shawl posed for a portrait. She wears high top Pueblo Boots, a silver bracelet and beads and a shell amulet on her neck. The in negative caption is " No. 69 ~~ Apache Indian Girl at Ramona School , Santa Fe, New Mexico ~~ D. B. ( Dana ) Chase , Photographer , Santa Fe, N. M. " . This most probably was taken at the Tertio Millenial Fair at Santa fe, in 1883. The back has a full backprint with historical information about Santa Fe ...... and Travel Ads for The Denver and Rio Grande Rail Road the only line passing through Salt Lake City en route to and from the Pacific Coast ~~ The Santa Fe Southern Railway scenic route out of Santa Fe, N. M. for Indian Pueblos of Santa Clara, San Ildefonso, San Juan and the Ancient Cliff Dwellings .... ". It was common to photograph the native children in "before" and "after" being "educated" photogaphs showing the children in their native attire and later in the Anglo Western style garments. It measures 5" by 8".
