Description
Title: F. T. Thomas Quebec Harbor & Levis / Havre de Québec & Levis Earthenware Transfer Platter. Maker: Britannia Pottery, Glasgow, Scotland. Date: c1880. Size: 14 ¼” wide, 18” long (36.1, 45.7 cm). Description: Octagonal, with view looking south across Quebec Harbor toward Levis. Border features beaver, maple leaf, rose, thistle and shamrock. Francis T. Thomas started importing china to Canada in 1874. About 1880, he commissioned ivory toned tableware featuring views of Quebec taken from photographs. The views carried titles in both English and French. From the private collection of Pat & Connie Kent, former operators of Granary Antiques in Fairfield, PEI.
