Description
This lot consists of an ink illustration on paper, done in the cartoonish, Pop Art style of Brian "Kaws" Donnelly (American, 1974 - ). Image depicts what looks like a home-made stuffed animal resembling Mickey Mouse. He has a huge, misshapen head and crudely stitched eyes. A curious and endearing piece. Handwritten inscription at bottom left reads "Kaws.." This unframed illustration measures approximately 13.75" x 10" and would make a charming addition to any modern art collection.
Brian "Kaws" Donnelly (American, 1974 - ) is a designer, painter, and printmaker who received his formal education at New York City's School of Visual Arts (SVA). Kaws is known for his pantheon of cartoon-like figures, often represented in larger-than-life sculpture. Many influences from Claes Oldenburg, Andy Warhol, and Gehard Richter are evident in Kaws' colossal body of work. Kaws' career took root in the 1990s, within the colorful parameters of animation and graffiti art. Today, world-renowned art institutions and high-profile private collectors -- from MoMA to Pharrell Williams -- are enthusiastic patrons of Kaws' work.
