Description
Large Victorian longcase wall clock, late 19th c., mahogany finish case with carved crest, turned finials, glazed door and side panels, housing painted dial with Roman numerals, time-only movement, single weight, pendulum, approx 72"l, 23"w, 10"d Start Price: $400.00
Condition
3.8.21- Amended description-
3.12.21-In my opinion regarding: LOT: 1240-
• Clock case: to the exterior the wood case shows some nicks, rubs and wear commensurate with age, the interior case has finish loss and wear along bottom and the lower back panel has a drill hole and wood fracture, all as pictured, the glass is free of chips or cracks and the door operates correctly, there is evidence, as imaged, that there may have been a lower pediment at bottom between the two finials, there is no evidence that a top center finial was ever present
• Dial: the dial shows some chips/loss to finish, it is approx. 12.5” in diameter
• Pendulum rod: the pendulum rod has been repaired right above silver tone bob, (the bob is very heavy, and overtime has put strain on the rod)
• Bob- displays surface wear, spotting and small dents
• Clock operation: although the clock beat seems normal, there is no advancement of time as reflected by the hands on the dial, thus some repair, unknown to us, is needed
