Native American, United States, Archaic to Woodland period, ca. 3000 to 1200 BP (1000 BCE to 800 CE). A wonderful collection of 7 hand-knapped stone tools comprised of 5 projectile points and 2 blades. The 5 projectile points exhibit a diverse selection of forms with expanding and straight stems, excurvate, inward recurvate, outward recurvate, and straight blades, and horizontal and barbed shoulders. Alternatively, the pair of blades display petaloid forms with pointed ends. The lovely tools display a variety of hues, such as caramel, cream, peach, chocolate brown, and mocha. Size (of largest): 6.5" L x 2.25" W (16.5 cm x 5.7 cm); Size (of case): 12.25" L x 8.25" W (31.1 cm x 21 cm)

Metallurgy, such as casting and smelting, was unknown in most of North America. While copper was used by some eastern cultures, it was labor intensive and hammered thus making the pieces more brittle and susceptible to breaking. Stone was much stronger than unalloyed copper and was the choice material for tools like these.
