Description
1800s William Blake ART Sacrifice of Job Color Illustrated Framed Engraving

William Blake was an English poet and painter whose work was underappreciated during his lifetime but became immensely popular during the 19th-century who changed the face of art with innovation and social narrative.

This print is plate 18 of the set of 21 engraved illustrations to the “Book of Job” commissioned by John Linnell completed between 1823-1825. These plates were cut with the graver entirely on copper without the help of etching acid. This Job series is considered to rank among Blakes greatest achievements as a printmaker.
