Description

Two (2) Scott County, Virginia baskets signed by Jesse Jones (b. 1907), including a huge buttocks basket form. Baskets consisting of white oak, rib-type split construction with handles secured by nails at the rim. Both signed in pencil "Jesse Jones" on the handle. The large basket is additionally dated "1986" and the small basket is dated "7-83". Large basket: 26 1/2" H x 36" W x 35" D. Smaller basket: 9 1/4" H x 10 1/4" W x 11" D.

Condition

Small basket with stain to the base, large basket with wear to the handle, otherwise both baskets overall very good condition.
