Description
Ancient Greece, ca. 5th to 3rd century BCE. Rare glass jar of small proportions created using blue glass rods melted and wrapped around a sand core. You can see how this was made in layers with a central rounded body to which wide threads of the same blue glass were almost woven onto the surface, with round rim attached as the very last step. A rare and fascinating example! Size: 1.2" H (3 cm)
