Description
Ancient Seas, Middle Miocene to end of Pliocene eras, ca. 28 to 2.6 million years ago. This is a fossilized tooth from a prehistoric megalodon shark - the largest fish or shark to ever exist! This tooth has a silky gray and black enamel, with a polished tip, and the edges retain most of their petite serrations which are pleasantly tactile. The serrations demonstrate the great tearing capability these sharks had- their jaws also had the strength to crush a small car - a frightening thought! Interestingly, a megalodon's age at death can be determined by the growth rings radiating from the centra of the tooth. Size: 5.15" L x 4.08" W (13.1 cm x 10.4 cm); 5.25" H (13.3 cm) on included custom stand.
