Description
Native American, Southwestern United States, Colorado, Anasazi/Ancestral Puebloans, Mesa Verde type, ca. 1200 to 1300 CE. A pretty pottery mug showcasing hand-painted black-on-white decoration with a horizontal band of right triangles over a series of tightly-packed horizontal striations on the exterior walls and a band of dashes on top of the rim. The mug itself presents a traditional form with a cylindrical body, an annular rim, and a broad ribbon-form handle, all sitting atop a flat base. Size: 3.5" Diameter x 2.9" H (8.9 cm x 7.4 cm)
Provenance: ex-John B. Kendrick II collection, Denver, Colorado, USA, acquired 1965 to 1990; John B. Kendrick II was that son of John B. Kendrick, Wyoming governor and US senator
