Rare offprint of one of Einstein's major papers on General Relativity, the first in the final series of papers leading to the successful formulation of the General Theory of Relativity. ; After two years of fruitless "wanderings" in quest of alternative methods to construct the General Relativity equations, Einstein here resumes work with the Riemann tensor and general covariance. (This paper was immediately followed by Einstein's paper on the Perihelion of Mercury, which both empirically demonstrated the theory's validity and further precised its mathematical framework.) ; Einstein himself said of this paper (at the end of its introduction): "The magic of this theory will hardly fail to impose itself on anybody who has truly understood it; it represents a genuine triumph of the method of absolute differential calculus."
