Description
American Civil War brass name stencil belonging to George K. Nesbitt of the 11th Pennsylvania Reserve Volunteer Corps. Stencil presents naming "GEORGE K. NESBITT. CO. E. 11th Regt. P.R.V.C." and measures 1.5" x 2.75" and exhibits an uncleaned patina. George K. Nesbitt enlisted in Indiana County, Pennsylvania and was mustered into the 40th Pennsylvania Infantry (11th Pennsylvania Reserve Volunteer Corps) on June 21, 1861. He was promoted to corporal on July 27, 1861 and died on October 14, 1861 while his regiment was on duty at Tennallytown, Maryland, and picket duty at Great Falls. Provenance: Gary Wolfer collection.
