North America, United States, ca. mid 19th century CE. An ensemble of three antique photographs. The first daguerreotype photo displays the portrait of a young woman wearing a checker-pattern dress with a frilled collar; it is set behind a small glass panel with an embossed ovular brass mat on top, rather than underneath, and a stylized brass perimeter, all inside a leather-bound wooden case half. The second photo, also a daguerreotype, shows the portrait of a dark-haired young man; the photo is set on a brass mat with a glass panel and wavy embossed brass perimeter, but does not have a case. The largest photo, an ambrotype, displays a young woman with a dark collared dress and a dark frilled bonnet. The Union leather case half features an embossed ovular brass frame displaying lovely American flags, drums, cannons, and stars around the image, and the quote "THE UNION NOW AND FOREVER" can be read underneath. Size (smallest): 1.75" W x 2" H (4.4 cm x 5.1 cm); size (second-smallest): 2" W x 2.5" H (5.1 cm x 6.4 cm); size (largest): 2.35" W x 2.85" H (6 cm x 7.2 cm).

Large ambrotype has fading and wear to photo area with tarnishing and slight bending to brass areas, and with minor wear to leather cover to case; second case half is missing.
