Northern Europe, Denmark, Neolithic period, ca. 3900 to 1700 BCE. A pair of stone hand axes, each expertly napped from chert with amber brown or warm gray hues. The slender form forms are similar: each featuring a thick and rounded butt end with a straight edge for gripping, the body widening towards the blade tip and an acutely angled blade edge meant for shaping softer materials like wood or hide. Losses to the cutting end s of both. Chips and surface nicks throughout as expected with age and use. Both are very polished and smooth.
