Description
A Province of Quebec map according to the royal proclamation on the 7th of October, 1763, from the French surveys connected with those made after the war. Author Captain Jonathan Carver (1710-1780), Publisher for Robert Sayer & John Bennett, printed in London, in 1776. This map shows settlements, military outposts, major roads and areas of Native American habitation. Included are insets for "A particular survey of the Isles of Montreal", "The City of Quebec", "Course of the river St. Lawrence, from La Valterie to Quebec", and "A plan of Montreal or Villemarie". The creation of this map coincides with the end of the Seven Years' War with the signing of the Treaty in Paris. Very good condition, central crease. Measuring, approximately 32” x 39” with frame, and 20 1/2” x 27 1/2” (at sight).
