Civil War Archive: 11 Cartes de Visite with 2 Reunion Ribbons
A group of eleven Civil War-era cartes de visite with two veteran reunion ribbons. The CDVs, all measuring approximately 2.5" x 4", are a mix of well-known officers and everyday soldiers. With wear, soiling, and toning to all of the cartes de visite. Some minor scratching but overall attractive. The ribbons have some soiling and edgewear. A few frayed threads. Overall very good.
Many are identified on the front or verso and include General Meade, General McClellan, Capt. Jim Carris, Lt. William Hay, Billie Banker, and a group image of "Our Peace Commissioners" which includes Lincoln, Grant, Sheridan, Sherman, Porter, Farragut, and Thomas. Most of the cards have backstamps present on verso. A few are signed or captioned. The two reunion ribbons are for two Ohio Infantries. The first, measuring 1.5" x 5", is for the 12th Annual Reunion of the 115th O.V.I., while the second, measuring 2" x 5.75", is for Company K of the 4th O.V.I.
