Description
Native American, Pacific Northwest Coast, United States or Canada, Tlingit / Haida / Tsimshian, ca. 19th to early 20th century CE. A magnificent knife with an iron blade and elk antler handle carved with formline abstracted animal motifs and mounted in a display case. Special and ornate daggers were clan heirlooms and passed down through generations with stories and oral histories associated with its use. Size of knife: 11" L x 2.5" W (27.9 cm x 6.4 cm); case: 13" L x 13" W (33 cm x 33 cm)
