Alfred Stillé was Civil War-era American surgeon and physician. He is remembered for being the first American to make a distinction between typhus and typhoid fever. One of his medical treatises was his “National Dispensatory” – an enormous work on the history, uses, ingredients, and distribution of medicine. This 1887 edition of Stillés work contains features hundreds of entries of medicines, drugs, vitamins and minerals, tonics, botanical remedies and herbs, and much more!
