Description
Western Europe, Switzerland, Neuchatel, ca. early to mid-19th century CE. A beautiful and functional silver case pocket watch with fusee case, key-set movement, and verge escapement. The bezel is a high quality 86% silver with a slightly domed crystal glass cover and an enamel face dial with Roman numerals. The enamel dial and clock mechanism is fastened to the case using a "bolt and joint" system with a hinge at 12 o'clock and a spring-loaded catch at 6 o'clock, when pressed, the movement / dial face pivots up and out of the case, revealing the verge movement within. The inside of the case is stamped "DB" with "3052" and a chevron shape hallmark. The chevron hallmark was used by the Swiss watchmaking center, Neuchatel. For the length of examination, this pocket watch functioned and kept time accurately! Condition
Small chip to enamel dial face over the 1. Patina and toning to the silver. Oxidation and green / white patina on interior of case. Key is included. Watch winds and mechanism seems to function and keeps time accurately. Long term time keeping was not tested.
