Vintage c1940 Dresden Plate Quilt measuring 74x75". It is comprised of 16 Dresden Plate blocks, 14.5x14.5, set straight, 4 by 4, with a 3.5" orange inner border and a 5" off white outer border. At each corner is an appliquéd orange leaf motif. It is machine pieced, hand appliquéd, hand embroidered, and hand quilted. There is a thin cotton batting and a purple floral feedsack print reverse. The edges are finished knife edge style with red blanket stitch embroidery along the perimeter. Has a wonderful array of depression era feed sack prints. It is in fair condition with several spots, fading, and minor loss to embroidery thread along the edge. This quilt is from the estate of Sharon Stark, noted Pennsylvania textile dealer and award winning author.
