It is signed at lower right with the artist's monogram JFK. The painting shows a highly luminist sunset at twilight. It features a sunlet sky at center with red hanging clouds at right. The darkened landscape of the trees provides contrast for the sunlit sky. The last two photos provide provenance for this painting. The first show the cover of a catalog from the 1872 estate sale of JF Kensett. It is set against a photo of those works as photographed in 1872 at the NAD. This painting for sale is shown on the wall (circled in red). Also pictured is the listing on pg 17 of the catalog with #228 titled Sunrise In The Adirondacks.
