Ancient Egypt, New Kingdom, 18th to 20th Dynasty, ca. 1550 to 1070 BCE. A hand-carved steatite bead in the form of a cowrie snail shell, hence the name "cowroid". A suspension hole is drilled lengthwise through the body while the bottom displays a series of 5 hieroglyphs - 2 abstract uraeus cobras, 2 heart-and-windpipe glyphs known as "nefer", and a central ankh - all above a broad set of wings that flank a sun disc. Size: 0.61" L x 0.48" W x 0.24" H (1.5 cm x 1.2 cm x 0.6 cm)

Minor abrasions and light staining to some surfaces, otherwise intact and very good. Great preservation to hieroglyphs along underside.
