Item Details
Description
This is an Illinois Central Railroad Armspear switch lamp. This is one of several lanterns from the estate of Ray Canole, a well-known collector and restorer of railroad lanterns from Michigan. He has done exquisite restorations for many years. This lantern is in fine condition. Has two amber and two green lenses that are like-new, without cracks. Has two snow shrouds, one on each amber lens. Chimney opens to reveal proper inner cone, and inside is a brass burner that attaches easily to the exterior wick adjuster, and also a replacement Adlake fount. ICRR is clearly visible on the welded tag on side of the lamp. Manufacturers brass tag and patent tag easily seen on the side of the chimney. Patent dates from 1880 through 1912. Peephole and glass are intact. Paint is very nice with one slight chip on the chimney. A fine piece!
