Attributed to Namikawa Yasuyuki, 1845 to 1927, a rare antique Japanese, late Meiji era, enamel vase. The vase has an urn shaped body and a wide fluted neck. The body of the vase is adorned with polychrome images of butterflies made in the Cloisonne technique. The neck features floral, and foliage patterns made in the same technique. The base is decorated with foliage and geometrical ornaments made in the same technique. The ground of each vase is inlaid with a Goldstone. Unmarked. Namikawa Yasuyuki was among the most celebrated Japanese enamelers of the Meiji period, together with Namikawa Sosuke they became the most famous cloisonne artists of the 1890 to 1910 period, a time known as the Golden Age of Japanese enamels.
