A Gold-Lacquer Four-Case Inro
Edo period (1615-1868), 19th century
The oval rounded rectangular kinji ground decorated in gold and slight coloured takamaki-e with a family of chickens caught in a sudden downpour rendered in silver takamaki-e, a hen, cockerel and a chick on one side, two chicks beside flowering clumps of chrysanthemums on the reverse, the interior of rich nashiji; signed on the base in gold hiramaki-e Kajikawa saku with a kao. 8.5cm x 5.7cm (3 3/8in x 2¼in).
