Obrzut is a well recognized Hopi artist who is featured in several national magazine articles and published in various books on Southwest art. Additionally, she has won numerous awards in sculpture and art shows across the U.S.. The artist began sculpting Hopi maidens over 30 years ago now and claims she "still has yet to scratch the surface of her cultural history”. With “The Hopi Tribe of Northern Arizona [being] thousands of years old” she explains “I have a lifetime to fully explain my people and their history. I know many of my collectors now understand more about the women and their powerful place in Hopi history”. The artist likes to travel to different art shows across the U.S each year so she can personally meet with her collectors and share the stories of the Hopi people. This stunning, green patina bronze here depicts a lovely Hopi women with a face proudly looking left. With her lovely jewelry, hair, and attire the sculpture conveys a feeling of power and elegance.
