Description
Imperial Porcelain Manufactory, St. Petersburg, period of Alexander II (1855-1881)
The tapering cylindrical cup with angular handle, centering an oval cartouche enclosing the gilt cypher of Empress Maria Alexandrovna (1824-1880) on a blue ground, amid grisaille scrolling foliage on a pale pink ground, the saucer similarly decorated. Height of cup 2 3/4 inches (7 cm), diameter of saucer 5 3/4 inches (14.6 cm).
