Size: 12.2 x 15 cm / 4.7 x 5.9 in
Additional Information: This drawing is hand signed in black ink "Liebermann" at the lower right margin.
It was drawn in 1923.
This is a preparative study for Max Liebermann's illustration of Heinrich Heine's "Der Rabbi von Bacharach" that were published in 1923.
Provenance: The Zalman Schoken Collection
The estate of Professor Victor Deutsch.
The authenticity of this work has been kindly confirmed by Dr. Margreet Nouwen from the Max Liebermann Archive, Berlin.
This work will be included in the Max Liebermann Catalogue raisonné of pastels, watercolours and gouaches currently being prepared by Dr. Margreet Nouwen.
Condition: Good condition. Generally slight discoloration of the paper. Some foxing at the lower edge of the paper. The drawing is attached with tape to the mount.
