Description

Unique Italian Military Embroidery circa early 1900s. Very nicely made and decorated with multicolored silk (possible metal) threads with 3 dimensional image depicting a lion holding Italian flag of green, white and red stripes and a white cross on red shield with a crown in the center. It appears that the flag with the shield and crown was in use by Italy from 1848 until the disagreement with Mexico over the rights to use the image. The embroidery cut out pinned to the black framed canvas. Possible discoloration. Age appropriate wear. Height: 28", Width: 18 1/4"
