Condition / Notes: This handsome antique set shows well bound in full leather with raised bands and gilt-lettered red and black leather spine labels.

These ex-library books show some age/wear externally concentrated at the extremities, including scraping to the front and rear covers of the second volume and loss of material to the outside corners of the boards of both the volumes.

The bindings are firm and cracking can be seen at the top of the front spine edge of the first volume. The volumes have marbled endpapers and small paper library plate appears on the half title pages. A stamp and a small paper library plate appears on the blank page opposite the title page of the first volume. The title pages are stamped. Library markings can be seen on the verso of the title pages.

The title pages are printed in red and black. The pages are clean and without markings. This work is illustrated with head- and tailpieces as well as a number of historiated initials. The text appears in double columns.
