North America, United States, ca. late 19th century CE. An intimidating model 1882 pump-action, single-barrel shotgun with a wooden handle with an inlaid tin star, a backwards trigger with a finger rest, a functioning pump mechanism wrapped with a red-dyed leather panel, and a narrow barrel with no internal rifling. The iron receiver has a functioning slot for feeding shells, with one side stamped with "F.BANNERMAN.MNFR.NEW.YORK.U.S.A. MODEL 1890," and the top of the barrel stamped with "SPENCER RPTG.SHOT GUN PAT.APL.1882." Included with the shotgun is a stitched leather holster with a bar of stamped floral motifs, two pairs of strap slits, an open lower end, and the initials "C.B." etched onto one side. Also included is a leather bandolier with a metal buckle, twenty-nine shell holders, and eighteen empty twelve-gauge shotgun shells. Size (shotgun): 26.375" L x 5.3" H (67 cm x 13.5 cm).

Minor nicks to some screw heads indicative of being disassembled and reassembled. Slight bending to tip of shotgun barrel, minor abrasions to handle, barrel, tin star, and receiver, softening to some incised details, and light encrustations within some recessed areas. Leather bandolier and holster have light desiccation and small losses to some peripheral areas, and slight bending to overall form. Several original shotgun shells are missing from bandolier. Great patina throughout all components. Shotgun has not been tested for firing functionality.
