Description

1870's cotton baskets quilt, hand pieced and hand quilted, with treadle machine appliqued basket handles, background stars, and a swag border with smaller baskets. It measures 74" X 78" and is in very good condition, with the occasional light stain, and subtle variation in some of the green, along a fold line (exaggerated in the pics). There is quilting around some of the piecework and in orange peel designs, all at 7 stitches to the inch. The back is an early brown with a white border, the hand stitched binding is a white print, and the batting is thin.
