ASIAN, FINE ART AND ANTIQUES SALE

Whitley’s Auctioneers invites you to our highly anticipated spring auction, in which we are presenting works with Royal provenance from three major estates in Europe and the United States. Included are centuries-old examples of Jade, Cloisonné, Satsuma, Jewelry, Stone Carvings and other rare Asian items dating as far back as the 12th century, with many appearing for the first time at auction. Inside this auction, you will find excellent representations of Guanyin, Lao Tzu, Luohan, and other Taoist and Buddhist motifs, as well as sculptural carvings of dragons, guardian dogs, and even an extinct species of Mongol horse. Collectors of scholarly works will find important historical books and treatises on Chinese and Japanese decorative arts and architecture, written in English, Spanish, and French, from the 19th century, that first helped introduce Europeans to the art, culture and treasures of the once “forbidden” East. Brilliantly colored porcelains and ceramics include works produced for the Imperial Porcelain Factory, Royal Doulton, and Goldscheider. Exquisite items in hallmarked silver from sought after brands including Reid and Son, Thomas Heming- the Principal Gold and Silversmith to King George III, Walter and John Barnard, and works attributed to Zuloaga Family will be available to view in person and online.
