Description
The vase, shaped like a pear, is intricately carved in high relief and features an undercut on one side. The carving depicts a chilong, which stands out due to a distinct apple-green vein running through the stone. The neck of the vase is adorned with a pair of dragon-head loop and loose ring handles. On top, there is a domed cover with a coiled dragon as its finial. The stone itself displays a mottled greenish-white color with splashes of apple green and a brown area. The height of the vase measures 3 ½ inches (8.8 cm) and it comes with a wooden stand. It belonged to the Robert and Marjorie Wong Collection from Portland, Oregon, and was acquired in Seattle during the 1980s. The present collector obtained it in March 2013 from a Christie's auction in New York.
