Description
Important WWII D-Day Invasion Announcement Ticker Tape. This may be the first Ticker tape to announce the news of the invasion on June 6th 1944 that changed history forever. Over 156,000 Allied troops landed on the beaches of Normandy on that 1st day alone under the command of General Dwight D Eisenhower Operation Overlord. This tape was found by the family in the belongings of Tech Sgt. Bernard Kenny of the 115th Infantry Regiment. He was shipped overseas for the invasion on March 14th 1944. How he obtained this Ticker Tape is unknown, but he knew enough to keep it as it was found in his WWII Wally Frank LTD zippered tobacco case. Note the 115th landed on Fox Beach at 10:25 hours under heavy German fire on June 6th 1944. Included in this lot is the Tobbaco pouch, a copy of his Military Service record, and two printed photos of Sgt. Bernard Kenny.
