Description
A ancient stone relic from West Africa, present day Niger and Burkina Faso, found in the Bura-Asinda-Sikka region, ca. 300 AD to 1500 AD. This heavily incised stone and decorated head in bulbous form may have served as a stopper top to a large funerary urn. The stone measures 9 inches tall, 11.75 inches tall on its custom display stand. Provenance: Ex Eugene Becker Collection, New York, also a private New Jersey collection.
