Item Details
Description
Native American, North-Western United States, Plains Tribes, Sioux ca. late 19th to early 20th CE. A lovely pair of beaded buckskin Native American moccasins. The tanned hide is supple on the uppers, and a hardened sole panel is sewn to the bottoms - this low ankle pair is well worn. Single lacing woven through the leather and knotted under the tongue and lane (lazy) stitching using with approximately 8 glass seed beads on each stitch. The pale blue beads are interspersed with red, white and dark blue in shapes of ladders, teepees, with lightning pattern and thunderbird on each toe. Size of each: 9.5" L (24.1 cm)
