Kitagawa Utamaro (Japanese, 1753-1806). The artist, whose original name is Kitagawa Nebsuyoshi, at times called himself Toyoaki, Kitagawa was the early representative of the ukiyo-e style, where the realistic depictions are mixed with decorative elements.
