Item Details
Description
This is a mixed lot of interesting Dietz Vesta railroad lanterns, with all of them being unmarked with any railroad name. The first is has a green cast Dietz Vesta globe. The consignor noted this was used on a wreck train. The second is missing the burner and fount, but does have a marked globe. It is a clear cast Kopp circled K globe with L.V.R.R. eiched on it, for the Lehigh Valley Railroad. The third lantern, as well as the fourth, are the less common 10 wire bottom variety. Both have clear cast Dietz Vesta globes, one being a Corning CNX type. One has patents of 1907 and 1909; the other is the same but also has a 1910 patent. The fifth lantern has a clear cast Corning/Dietz Vesta CNX globe, but the burner has been removed, as at one point it was wired with a socket for electric use. The last lantern has an opaque white globe, cast with a P at the top.
