ATTRIBUTED TO THE KOMAI COMPANY OF KYOTO

An Inlaid Iron Finial
Meiji era (1868-1912), late 19th/early 20th century
Worked throughout in the typical Komai-style of gold overlay, decorated with four circular panels, each enclosing a different design comprising (1) A flock of cranes in flight (2) Fishing nets (3) Wisteria trailing over a bamboo fence (4) Thatched buildings on the shores of a lake, all on a ground of densely-clustered vine leaves; unsigned. 9cm (3 9/16in) high, 12cm (4 11/16in) circumference.
