ATTRIBUTED TO THE HAYASHI KODENJI WORKSHOP OF NAGOYA

A Pair of Cloisonné-Enamel Small Ovoid Vases
Meiji era (1868-1912), late 19th/early 20th century
Worked in polychrome enamel and silver wire of varying gauge with a matching design depicting branches of trailing purple wisteria and shidare zakura (weeping cherry) cascading over a dense cluster of different flowering shrubs including kikyo (Chinese bellflowers), yuri (lilies), hagi (bush clover) and bara (roses), the neck encircled with a narrow band of repeated formal foliate motifs, all reserved on a dark blue ground, applied with a silver rim and foot; unsigned. Each vase: 14.5cm (5¾in) high. (2).
