ANDO JUBEI COMPANY
A Cloisonné-Enamel Baluster Vase
Meiji era (1868-1912), late 19th/early 20th century
Finely worked in silver and gold wire with two golden koi (carp), swimming in tumultuous waters, one having succeeded in reaching the top of a waterfall, reserved on a marine-blue ground, applied with a silver rim and foot, signed on the base in silver Ando sei within an oval reserve; stamped Jungin (Pure silver) on the foot rim, with a tomobako wood storage box inscribed on the lid Shippo yuri kabin (cloisonné vase with the design of swimming carp) and signed Jubei with a seal Ando kinsei (respectfully made by Ando). 28cm (11in) high.
