This square flatwoven cover using brown warps is a sofreh. It was used as a base for making bread dough or as a wrapping cloth for the bread. The field displays an abstract design of vertical bands of sharply serrated forms in brown, light red and beige woven in the slit tapestry technique. The designs of the lateral borders and the narrow stripes at both ends are in the brocading technique.
