Description
A traditional West African double-faced wooden mask of the Eket people from Nigeria. This mask features a round face with widely opened eyes in the center, giving it a powerful and arresting presence. Atop the round face is a second, smaller face sculpture with a distinctive curved and twisted haircut. This secondary face adds depth and complexity to the mask, inviting interpretation and contemplation. The double-faced nature of the mask may symbolize duality or multiplicity of existence, reflecting the interconnectedness of the physical and spiritual realms in Eket cosmology. Dates to the early or mid 20th century. Antique And Vintage African Wooden Masks And Tribal Art Collectibles.
