The Zane Grey model big game reels were re-introduced by Hardy in 1983, each of three models, 50, 80, & 130 capable of holding 1000 yards of line in its designed line class. These reels features a tail plate clutch & brake system on the opposite side of the handle making it possible to play a fish with both hands, also incorporated is a two speed gearing and rim mounted click switch for an audible alarm when the fish is running or in the off position for silent operation. There is a gear selector next to the crank that enables the two speeds, one for fast line take up and the other for power. Included with this beautiful reel is a tool kit in a Hardy hand stitched roll-pouch for safe keeping of the wrench, screwdriver, and other tools, in the custom box is a holder for the oil can. The box has all brass fittings and made of marine plywood, dovetailed corners add a nice touch to this classy box. The reel is in Excellent plus condition, the originals owner's name was etched professionally into the head plate and has been carefully removed, also included is a 1983 Hardy catalog that gives all the details of the Big Game models and an interesting profile on Zane Grey and the history of the tackle.
