Description
From the Collection of Greg Page. This one-page letter from Colonel Tom Parker, dated December 30, 1958, discusses a “pretty rough” headline that appeared in a newspaper which the Colonel feels he should address on behalf of Elvis. The letter continues to express the Colonel's concerns that the backup singers and music are ‘drowning out’ Elvis’ voice. This concern was a constant point of contention between the Colonel and Elvis as the Colonel strongly believed that Elvis’ voice ‘is the reason the kids buy his records.’ This letter, on Colonel Tom Parker letterhead and signed in ink by the Colonel, was acquired from the 1999 Graceland Auction. The letter, measuring approximately 11 by 8 1/2 inches (28 cm x 21.5 cm), is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland and by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.
