Description
Charlton Comics received permission in 1956 to publish information about Elvis, however the Colonel would not allow his future start to be trivialized by a comic strip composed about him. A few years later, Stanley Weston was working with Dell Publishing to produce Dell comics on life stories of some celebrities and wanted to include Elvis. The Colonel refused to grant permission. This is just one example of the endless stream of proposals to merchandise Elvis. Offered is a letter, dated March 21, 1962, to Colonel Parker from Stanley A. Weston of Weston Merchandising Corporation in New York. The letter states “They have recently expressed interest in doing a life-story comic on Elvis Presley. Their initial printing of this comic would be over 500,000 copies...we could hope to receive a minimum royalty from Dell of at least $1,600 for each tie-in comic that they would publish, which...he would share in equally with your company.” Accompanied by two early examples of Elvis-named comics and by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.

The letter is in good condition with wrinkles and creases consistent with age and use. The accompanying comics are in fair condition with discoloration, creases, fading, and lose pages.
