Description
Offered is a copy of a two-page typewritten letter from George Barris of Barris Kustom City to Abe Lastfogel of the William Morris Agency, dated June 24, 1966, regarding the installation of a stereo system in the Elvis Presley bus. Elvis purchased a used Greyhound bus in February of 1966 which was customized by George Barris and driven home by Elvis in April 1966. Elvis loved to caravan to and from Los Angeles down Highway 40 with the bus leading the way. However, as a result of the bus being outfitted with heavy lead to soundproof it, the bus’ additional weight caused it to frequently break down. Elvis had to fly to Los Angeles on June 26th because of a breakdown in the bus. The lot is offered with three designs, the largest measuring approximately 12 by 20 inches (30.5 cm x 51 cm). Acquired from the Graceland Auction in 1999 and accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated.Â
