Very finely carved Maori well carved walking stick or cane, probably dating to the late 19th century circa 1880's, featuring carved figure with tongue sticking out with carved abalone or mother of pearl disks highlighting the decoration. Provenance: From the estate collection of Eugene Bernald of Ossining, New York. Length 38 1/2 Inches (97.7 cm) Width 4 7/8 Inches (12.5 cm)
Condition
There are two glued repairs to the bottom half of the circular handle. There are also a few chips to the carved decoration.
